Note, though, that the Lightwave volumetric rendering test seems to be slightly more sensitive to bandwidth, and the RDRAM system performs a bit better. Since many of the PCMark tests SHUTTLE FB51 in the L2 cache, there should be only slight performance differences.
Sure enough, there are only slight differences. If you look at the PCMark memory test, though, you see that throughput on the SS51G is noticeably lower, even SHUTTLE FB51 aggressive memory settings. Certainly 3DMark SE qualifies here. The differences are smaller in the standard 3DMark test, because the graphics hardware has a greater impact.
But the pattern is still there. We look at three game engines here: Unreal TournamentDungeon Siege, and Comanche4. Here, we used the full version of Unreal TournamentSHUTTLE FB51 all the eye candy enabled. Dungeon Siege performs noticeably better on both PE systems at both resolutions.
Dungeon Siege is constantly moving world data in SHUTTLE FB51 out of memory, and is a pretty serious system stress test. On the other hand, Comanche 4 favors better memory bandwidth, and that holds up true here, too.
Next up are our standard OpenGL gaming tests. Jedi Knight 2 was built using the Quake III engine, so responds SHUTTLE FB51 well to higher memory bandwidth.

The price differences are likely to be relatively small since the only difference is the core SHUTTLE FB51 — the case, power supply and other motherboard infrastructure remains constant. Anyhow, the latest building block in that empire is the fastest XPC we've seen yet, and SHUTTLE FB51 benefits from all the improvements Shuttle has brought to the XPC line.
