When I first turned the U3 on, I noticed that the bass sounded too strong. The default settings enable many of the sound-enhancement settings, so you may want to turn them all off or to 0 and start from scratch to get the COWON iAUDIO U3 Media Player that matches your headphones and listening preferences.

It also offers adjustable line and mic volume, voice activation, and auto-sync for automatically breaking up tracks during line-in recording. The built-in microphone works well enough, and the adjustable COWON iAUDIO U3 Media Player volume really helps in quiet or loud recording situations.
The included JetAudio conversion software does a nice job of transcoding plenty of different file types COWON iAUDIO U3 Media Player the U3, and it's reasonably easy to use. Unfortunately, the U3's screen is too small to watch more than a minute or two of video comfortably, and the frame rate is too low for high-action scenes.
I'd certainly like to see a higher frame rate 24 fps would be good and the ability to load videos without conversion.

Although colors are a bit drab, the bright backlight makes them look more vivid than they do on the iPod nano's comparatively dim screen. Most mp3's can't accommodate a healthy volume level when plugged in to normal car stereo.
Not a problem for me, as I usually do a tech refresh i. But if you flog your gear until it drops, you will eventually find yourself charging after 2 hours of use, not the 20 that this thing handles when new. But those are nits.

In my mind, it's still a 5-star device While the capability is commendable, we just can't see using this player for anything except audio functions. This format support, in addition to a lower price, makes the U3 much more attractive overall. Fans of FM radio can enjoy the U3's capabilities in that area; it not only plays and records FM but also lets you record at scheduled times.
That's a great way to stock up on, for example, your favorite NPR shows for anytime listening. Setting the timer is fairly easy, though you can't line up multiple recordings as you can with a VCR; you're limited to one preprogrammed recording that can be singular or daily.
Manual recording is a snap: Just press the record button, though you needn't make it a long press as the instructions state; recording won't start if you do that. Meanwhile, the iAudio U3 has room for 24 FM presets, but it doesn't offer an autopreset option--another surprising omission.
